Mindful Movement in Sri Lanka
Feb 15 - 23 , 2028
9 days, 8 nights - Ayurvedic Spa – Yoga – Jungle – Ocean

Sri Lanka & the Southern Coast
Where the jungle meets the Indian Ocean
Set along Sri Lanka’s lush southern coast, this is a region where tropical landscapes, ancient traditions, abundant wildlife, and the rhythms of the Indian Ocean come together. Golden beaches stretch along the coastline, while inland, coconut palms, rice fields, lagoons, and national parks (with Safari) create a landscape rich in natural beauty and biodiversity.
Sri Lanka is a place of deep cultural and spiritual heritage, shaped by centuries of Buddhist traditions, Ayurveda, and a profound connection to the natural world. From ancient cities and sacred sites to bustling markets and quiet village roads, there is a sense of history and tradition woven into everyday life.
The southern coast offers a particularly spacious way to experience the island. The region is known for its laid-back coastal atmosphere, fresh tropical produce, and welcoming communities.
PLUS — if you’re inspired to extend your time in Sri Lanka, consider exploring the ancient temples and ruins of the Cultural Triangle, the misty mountain tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya and Ella, the vibrant streets of Colombo, the historic port city of Galle, and so much more. I’ll be sharing plenty of my own tips, recommendations, and tricks to help you make the most of your time on this incredible island and turn your retreat into a truly memorable Sri Lankan adventure.

Rekawa Wellness Resort
Nestled on the southern shores, Rekawa Wellness Resort, is a dedicated Ayurvedic Wellness Sanctuary surrounded by nature. The property was created from a vision of bringing together authentic Ayurvedic healing traditions, environmental consciousness, and a deep respect for the natural world.
With its peaceful setting, connection to the land and ocean, and commitment to holistic wellbeing, Rekawa provides a beautiful home base from which to experience the quieter, more soulful side of Sri Lanka. From the Ayurvedic vegetarian meals, to the knowledgeable staff and practitioners there to guide you through your treatments, to the beautiful open-air shala where we'll practice in together, this is more than just a wellness spa... it's a glimpse into the rich eastern healing traditions that will rebalance you. A true retreat !

Yoga & Mindful Movement
Daily practices will take place in their spacious open-air yoga pavilion, with polished timber floors, soaring ceilings, and panoramic views of the jungle. Natural ventilation keeps the space comfortable while maintaining connection to ocean sounds and bird songs. Fully equipped with yoga mats and props to support every aspect of our practice.
The yoga practices throughout this retreat will be thoughtfully woven into what we’re learning about Ayurvedic living — exploring how movement, breath, meditation, rest, and daily rhythms can support greater balance and wellbeing. Our practices will offer an opportunity to experience these principles not just intellectually, but through the body and breath.
Enjoy 2 or more sessions per day: A mix of energizing Vinyasa Flows, strength-based Pilates, and other mindful movement workshops, as well as grounding, slower paced Hatha, Yin, and Restorative practices. There will also be guided meditation and Yoga Nidra journeys.
Every session is thoughtfully woven into the retreat’s overarching theme and enhanced with optional hands-on adjustments, aromatherapy, reflective journal prompts, inspiring quotes/readings, and more — all designed to deepen your practice and invite inspiration, introspection, and inner clarity.
This retreat is open to all levels—whether you're just beginning your journey or looking to expand and deepen your practice.

Originating in India more than 3,000 years ago, Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic systems of health and wellbeing. Meaning “knowledge of life,” Ayurveda is rooted in creating balance between the body, mind, senses, environment, and daily rhythms. It has deep roots in both India and Sri Lanka, where these traditions continue to be practiced today.
During our retreat, we’ll be learning about and experiencing Ayurveda through everything we do — from our yoga, breath work, and meditation, to our daily meals, rituals, and wellness treatments. This immersive approach is one of the things that makes this retreat so unique.
Each guest will receive a personalized Ayurvedic wellness program beginning with an individual consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor at the resort. During your consultation, you'll learn more about your individual constitution, or Dosha, as well as your current needs, lifestyle, and intentions for your time at the retreat. Your Ayurvedic practitioner will then recommend treatments and practices that are best suited to you. Throughout your stay, you'll have ongoing guidance and check-ins with the Ayurvedic team, followed by a closing consultation to reflect on your experience and discuss ways you may be able to bring some of these practices into your life at home.
Your wellness package includes 2–3 Ayurvedic treatments each day (over the 8 days), thoughtfully selected according to your individual needs and treatment plan. Depending on your consultation and recommendations, treatments may include traditional Ayurvedic therapies, massage, herbal treatments, steam therapies, and other restorative practices.
I'll share more details about the individual treatments closer to the retreat, and you'll have the opportunity to speak directly with the Ayurvedic doctor to understand what is recommended for you. Food
Three nourishing meals are served daily, inspired by the incredible diversity of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and thoughtfully aligned with Ayurvedic principles.
Fresh, seasonal produce is sourced from organic farmers throughout southern Sri Lanka, with many ingredients arriving just hours after harvest.
Expect colourful curries, coconut-based dishes, fragrant rice, and traditional spices prepared fresh — food that is deeply rooted in the island’s culinary heritage while supporting balance and wellbeing.
Throughout the day, enjoy fresh juices made with tropical fruits, vegetables, herbs, ginger and turmeric, along with Ayurvedic-inspired herbal teas chosen to support digestion, energy, relaxation and overall balance.
The intention is simple: to experience food not just as nourishment, but as an integral part of the retreat and our exploration of Ayurvedic living.
Plus, we will get to learn more through our Ayurvedic workshops, consultations, and cooking demonstrations!
*most dietary restrictions will be accommodated, please let us know ahead of time

Meet Your Host
- Madison -
I've been teaching Yoga since 2016, and leading retreats since 2020. Before fully stepping into this path, I worked as a television producer— an experience that honed my skills in curating seamless, intentional experiences. Today, I bring that same storytelling instinct into the heart of every retreat I lead, weaving together movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection.
What sets my retreats apart is the balance I intentionally create: they are as much about rest, exploration, and travel as they are about deepening your Yoga practice. Each retreat is anchored by a thoughtfully chosen theme—one that invites personal growth, reflection, and a deeper connection to self. These themes guide our time together, from the mat to mealtime to evening games to solo moments of stillness.
Born and raised in Toronto, I continue to teach Yoga, Pilates, and other mindful movement modalities with a focus on linking breath, body, and mind. My classes blend creative sequencing, curated playlists, and playful energy with hands-on support, modifications, and space to honour your individual journey.
To me, Yoga is a way to calm the mind, regulate the nervous system, and return to the present moment. My hope is that what we practice on retreat becomes something you carry home: a sense of clarity, strength, and connection that supports you in your everyday life.

Travel
GETTING TO THE RETREAT CENTER:
-
The closest international airport is Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo. From the airport, Rekawa Wellness Resort is approximately 3.5 hours by car, depending on traffic and road conditions.
-
Because Sri Lanka is a long journey from North America, I highly recommend arriving a few days early and taking some time to settle into the country before the retreat.
-
Galle (1.5 hours from the center) is a great option to visit for a few days, or there are other destinations along the southern coast. All wonderful options for easing into your Sri Lankan adventure. I’ll be happy to share recommendations for places to stay and things to do.
-
-
If you prefer to travel directly to the retreat centre, private transfers can be arranged from the airport or wherever you are staying beforehand.
-
I’ll provide more detailed arrival and transfer information as we get closer to the retreat, including recommended timing for your arrival at Rekawa.
-
The travel agency I work with can also help you with booking flights & help secure travel and health insurance, as needed.
