FAQs

Do I need to have yoga experience to join a retreat?

Not at all. All classes are designed to be accessible for every level, with modifications and variations offered throughout. Even if you’ve never practiced yoga before, this is a supportive way to begin. Before each retreat, I connect with participants to learn about their practice and preferences so I can tailor the offerings to the group’s needs.

Why would someone join a yoga retreat? How is it different from other group travel?

A yoga retreat goes beyond a vacation. While you’ll still enjoy beautiful surroundings, nourishing meals, and new experiences, the focus is on your well-being. Retreats blend mindful movement, breathwork, meditation, and time in nature with opportunities for rest and reflection. Unlike traditional group travel, you’re not rushing from one sight to the next—you’re given the space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and build meaningful connections with others.

Do I need to come with someone, or can I join alone?

You are welcome to attend with a friend, but many guests come on their own. In fact, traveling solo can create space for deeper rest and reflection. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to connect with the group and often leave with new friendships, while still having the freedom to enjoy solitude whenever you need it. Reconnecting with yourself is a big priority on retreat.

How much of the retreat is scheduled VS free time?

Each retreat offers a balance of structured activities and personal downtime. You are welcome to participate in as much or as little as you’d like, including the daily practices. Additional excursions or activities may be available for those who want more, but there is always space to simply rest, read, journal, or take a nap.

Can you help with additional trip planning?

Yes. I collaborate with a trusted travel agency that can assist with flights, travel insurance, and travel extensions before or after the retreat. This support ensures your experience is smooth, memorable, and stress-free from start to finish. I also send helpful documents like a packing list and more.

"I recently travelled to the sunny surf town of Sayulita, Mexico to experience a week of yoga guided by Madison which included the additional infusion of functional strength training, Thai stretching and massage, a guided group meditation under the stars on the beach and an energizing hike up Monkey Mountain! When we were not on the mat, we wandered through town, we soaked up the sun, we swam, we ate, we sampled the local food and culture, reclined by the pool at our lovely Hotelito Los Suenos in the company of sweet new friends. It was a beautiful week, restorative and soul filling. A precious gift for your own self to savour!"
